We had a fun Christmas this year,
we got lots of snow, and we tried to do some special things to make this time of year more meaningful instead of paying attention to all the commercialism and getting stressed out about things.
we went to stanley park with Dans Mom and Dad and we looked at all the lights and decorations, some of which were made by my father in law. there are a couple of pictures in the slide show that show the ones he made, a gingerbread man and a solider... we found a few candy canes as well. we werent sure how many had survived the storm from last year.
the kids had a great time riding the train and checking out the petting zoo.
Dahlia was singing silent night and away in a manger in her sunday school class it was a proud moment for us to watch her and her class singing. she did well. we got too much snow on Christmas eve so the service was cancelled I was dispointed but we had a great night anyways. that morning the kids had opened their gifts so they played happily with their new toys all day. then Dahlia and I made a special birthday cake for Jesus.
after our traditonal dinner of mandarin food from Penang we sang happy birthday to Jesus and enjoyed a piece of cake.
christmas day was at my parents this year. Dan and I brined a turkey and took it over for dinner. And we were at Dans parents for boxing day. Dahlia tried her first taste of pickled herring... i think it will also be her last taste, but her expression was great!
we had fun and enjoyed playing in the snow as well.
hope everyone else had a great Christmas too.
